"Why does no one care when boys fail at school and middle-aged men kill themselves?"

"This infantile “you’ve had millennia of privilege so tough luck if you’re suffering now” attitude is damaging, toxic and, increasingly, plain cruel. It also further divides the genders when we should be joining together to address inequalities, not starting ridiculous tit-for-tat spats."

That's my opinion on this subject.

White men & fat people are the only humans that is still okay to make fun of.

I don’t think it’s ok to make fun of fat people. Have you heard of all of the stuff on the internet against fat shaming (https://authoritynutrition.com/fat-shaming-makes-things-worse/)? There are also cases where people who say anything about not preferring women who are considered to be plus size (including believing that it is unhealthy to be obese) are considered to be insensitive and called all kinds of other things. I’m sure that people who are over-weight are discriminated against. However, I don’t think that most people believe it is ok to make fun of someone because of that. I’ve heard of many people these days stating that they think that being significantly overweight is healthy. I also never hear anyone bring anything up about how people, especially men, who are underweight are made fun of.

I don’t think it’s okay either but, if you look at society fat shaming is still generally accepted.

& comedians, the general assumption that larger than what we’re told is normal is a result of gluttony or some pathetic emotional crutch & the disapproval someone who is “plus sized” gets when they order something we deem unhealthy or not appropriate for big people. Even our institutions such as public schools, parents have been accused of child abuse or something similar because a teacher has decided their kid is too big for his age.

It happens in job interviews when the person doing the hiring assumes the heavy applicant will miss more days of work & will not work as hard or as fast as others. Fat & Stupid still go hand in hand as far as conjoined assumptions go.

Ah, comedians, even obese comedians will make “insensitive” jokes and make fun of everything. I don’t take them seriously. That stuff about the schools is sad, but I don’t hear about that too often even though I’ve taught in many different schools in 3 different states. I have heard of coaches hounding obese students, though. I’ve heard of people being discriminated against at job interviews too, but that’s not actually shaming them unless they actually call them something like a fat loser. I think the most often stated instance of fat shaming is when an obese person is exercising in a fitness center and someone calls them names. That is really sad in my opinion. Obese or not, that person is there to improve themselves, not be made fun of. I think it’s great that they are exercising and am tired of seeing friends who are obese and still some of the nicest people that I know have to go to the hospital for obesity related issues. It really worries me as I have a friend who has had that happen to him a few times. I actually don’t mind if someone has a little fat on them or some curves, but I really do find it concerning when they are getting sick or will most likely have problems in the future because of their weight. Despite that, I know, their weight really isn’t my business, so they can do whatever they want to with that and I won’t bother them.

They know why they didn’t get the job, it’s all over the interviewer’s face, they don’t say it but, they may as well.

I’m sure that not all interviewers make faces at them like that. However, as I said earlier, they certainly are discriminated against and that is sad and unprofessional anyway. I’ve also heard that, for some jobs, such a consulting, they purposely look for people who look a certain way and who are slim because it affects their ability to keep and get clients.

Well it’s “ok” depending on WHO does it. There are double standards now that certain people can ignore the law and no one gets excited about it. Should a member of the “commoners” break the law, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.

I think that is true too, especially among politicians. It is also sad that there are a lot of commoners out there who are sent to prison for things that they really shouldn’t be imprisoned for either because they are too ignorant to know how to defend themselves or because they don’t have very good representation in court. Us commoners have to watch out for stuff like that. We can’t all be famous politicians or the top one percent.

Well just wait. If the Liberals get their way, the wealthy will get wealthier and the Middle Class will disappear altogether.

I hope that doesn’t happen, but the income the rich do seem to be getting richer and the poor, poorer.
